EVALUATION PROCESS
For several years, our process has been highly successful. It is based on the demonstration of the basic volleyball skills. We take great pride in being objective in the evaluation of the player without regard to their background. This leads to a fair and objective analysis of each player. Part 1 In the first half of day 1, players are placed by age for the initial evaluation. This process, known as the "Fast Drill", allows players to compete on a tier that is within their age group. After each timed round, players are moved to a different group based on what the coaches see during the competition. This process is repeated 5 times with players being moved accordingly. Players are never moved backward in this process to a younger group. Part 2 A more skill based analysis is performed by the coaching staff to further subdivide the initial courts. Players are evaluated in serving, hitting, forearm passing and hand passing. The secondary evaluation takes place immediately after part 1 of the evaluation. This creates the initial courts for instruction in the second half of day 1. Part 3 There is an on-going evaluation through the first half of day 3 in which players are again moved to courts based on performance. A player is asked to move to a different court if she demonstrates superior skill and attitude to the coaches on her initial court. Part 4 At the end of the week, your son/daughter will receive an evaluation from his/her court coach which covers all skills. We encourage your son/daughter to regularly communicate with his/her court coach in order to maximize the instruction at camp. The staff members are great resources who have been chosen because they love the sport and want to help others improve. |
